Located in the heart of the Plantation Belt, Rio Piedra Plantation is situated amongst roughly 100 private plantations all 400,000 acres of which is largely dedicated to habitat conservation for Georgia quail hunting. Our position within the Plantation Belt ensures a consistent influx of birds and an abundance of hunting opportunities that you and your group will be sure to enjoy. Rio Piedra is approximately half way between Albany and Thomasville and provides easy access to quail hunting via a short flight or relatively short drive from either Atlanta or Tallahassee. Arrival by Air
There are multiple airport options to accommodate the various needs of our guests. The closest commercial airport is the Southwest Georgia Regional airport (ABY) in Albany, GA and hosts connections from Atlanta. Albany, GA is 30 minutes by car from Rio Piedra. Guests also have the option of flying into Tallahassee (1:20 minutes by car) or Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson airport (approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes by car).
For those flying in on private aircraft, the closest private facility is the Camilla, Mitchell County airport (CXU). This airport can accommodate most large private jets and is about 15 minutes by car from the plantation. While Albany and Thomasville offer numerous lodging options for private fleet pilots, Thomasville is a bit closer and offers an inviting downtown district featuring a variety of shops and restaurants.
Directions from Atlanta, Georgia
Starting in Atlanta, take I-75 South. As you approach Macon keep right onto I-475 S (follow signs for Bypass to I-75 South/Valdosta.) In 15.6 miles, keep left to merge onto I-75 S. In 57.6 miles take exit 99 for GA-300/Ga-Fla Pkwy towards Albany. Turn right onto GA-300 S, then, in 35.1 miles, turn right onto Clark Ave (if you pass Milan Food Mart on your right, you have missed your turn). Turn right to merge onto GA-300 S/US-19 S. In 25 miles you will reach Camilla. Turn right onto GA HWY 37 and travel for 8.9 miles. Turn left onto S. Turkey road (incorrectly displayed as “Old River Road” on Google Maps). In 1.6 miles the main entrance to Rio Piedra Plantation will be on your right.
Directions from Albany, Georgia
Experience premier Georgia quail hunting near Albany. From Southwest Georgia Regional Airport in Albany, head south on GA-91/ Newton Road for approximately 18 miles until you arrive in Newton. Turn left onto GA-37 E (there is a Dollar General to your left), towards Camilla. In 1.5 miles, after crossing over the Flint River, turn right onto S. Turkey Road (incorrectly displayed as “Old River Road” on Google Maps). In 1.6 miles, the main entrance to Rio Piedra Plantation will be on your right. You’ve arrived at your quail hunting Albany, GA destination.
Directions from Tallahassee, Florida
From Tallahassee International Airport, turn left on FL – 263N/Capital Circle. Drive for approximately 15 miles then turn right onto Concord Bainbridge Road and continue for 6.5 miles Take a slight left onto US-27 North and continue for 1.7 miles. Turn Right onto GA-262 North. Drive for 7.2 miles then turn left onto Lake Douglas road. Follow Lake Douglas road for 1.0 miles then turn right on Carl Cloud Road. In approximately 1.9 miles turn left to rejoin GA-262. In 2.5 miles turn right on Thomasville road and then left onto Bert Phillips Road to stay on GA-262/North Pelham Road. In 13.4 miles, turn right onto GA-97 and travel for 7.3 miles until you reach the town of Hopeful. Turn Left onto River Road for 8.5 miles then turn left onto S. Turkey Road (incorrectly displayed as “Old River Road” on Google Maps). In 0.6 miles, the main entrance for Rio Piedra Plantation will be on your left.
Directions from Thomasville, Georgia
In under an hour, experience premier quail hunting near Thomasville, GA. From downtown Thomasville, head Northeast on East Jacksons Street. Turn Left onto GA-300 S/US-19 North towards Pelham and Camilla. In 30 miles you will reach Camilla. Turn Left onto GA HWY 37 and travel for 8.9 miles. Turn left onto S. Turkey road (incorrectly displayed as “Old River Road on Google Maps). In 1.6 miles the main entrance to Rio Piedra Plantation will be on your right. Quail hunting Thomasville, GA style awaits.
